Did you know the human body is more than 60 percent water? Did you know blood is 92 percent water, the brain and muscles are 75 percent water, and bones are about 22 percent water?
Our body runs on water, let's take a look at the functions of water in the body.
Functions of water in the body
Nearly all of the major systems in your body depend on water. 1
Considering so much of what we are made of is water and nearly all the major systems in your body depend on water it stands to reason drinking more water - just plain water would help our bodies function better and feel better.
It has been recommended for decades that we drink 8 glasses of water per day. You may need much more water if you are working or exercising or if you find yourself in a hot environment such as the southern United States. You may also need more water when the water is hot as sweating (water evaporating from our bodies) to keep us cool needs to be replaced. The point is there is no “magic” amount of water your body needs. What is important is that you get enough water so your body functions at its best and you feel better.
